Why certification
There is demand for this type of analysis from certification bodies, funders, companies, researchers and others. Certified practitioners will be able to carry out such analyses independently, as consultants or within their own or other organisations. Certification is planned for 2027. WFI may then refer suitable requests to them.
How it will work
- Complete the free online trainingOur self-paced online course will introduce each module of the WFF through short videos and quizzes. It will be open to everyone, and it is the first step towards certification.
- Apply for certificationCertification is selective. It will involve an assessment of your ability to apply the framework to real questions: transparently, with clearly stated assumptions and uncertainty, and consistent with the WFI Scientific Canon, our public reference for terminology.
- Join the referral networkCertification is planned for 2027. People who complete it may be considered when WFI refers requests for research projects and analyses.
What certification means, and what it does not
Certification will recognise an individual’s competence in applying the WFF. It does not certify or endorse any company, product, label, standard, organisation, intervention, production system or policy, nor any analysis that a certified practitioner produces. Analyses carried out by certified practitioners, and any claims or recommendations based on them, are their own responsibility. Certified practitioners must not state or imply that WFI endorses their work or their clients.
